Workshop: “ECOLOGY & ECONOMY”
It is increasingly apparent that the threats to our natural environment, including those contributing to climate change cannot be checked by " Nature Preserves" or "Protected Areas". We must address human economic activity as it relates the the environment. In the Caribbean sustainable agriculture and sustainable fisheries are obvious answers. What are the others? What government policies and/or social initiatives will help or hinder?
ArtVark is inviting Jamaican and international participants to consider these questions and suggest a better way forward.

Sustainable Systems for the Greater Antilles Workshop September 2019
Tourism development and extraction of minerals has provided employment and government revenue in the Greater Antilles. However those activities have frequently also damaged the marine and terrestrial environment and poverty persists. This workshop investigate alternative systems and strategies. It will focus on sustainable agriculture & food security, sustainable fisheries and sustainable tourism and how to develop the political will and regulatory systems that could make them a reality in our islands.
